MEDICINE CATS

Learning to heal another cat is another way of life, so you must think deeply on this decision.

As a medicine cat, you are highly regarded by the other Clans. As a deeply spiritual feline, you heal diseases and injuries that others have gotten. You seek advice from StarClan, following their guidance and interpreting their omens. Some of your tasks as medicine cat are: knowing all the herbs and keeping your supply fully stocked; treat wounded and sick cats; assisting pregnant queens, whether they're birthing, nursing or not; check up on the health of your Clan regularly (especially elders, kits, and queens); visit the Mirror Wall every half-moon to consult with StarClan; interpreting prophecies omens from StarClan and reporting them to the Clan leader; accompany the deputy to the Mirror Wall to get their nine lives upon the death or retirement of the previous leader; training your successor; bear knowledge of basic battle training; when you need direct communication with StarClan, you need to visit them.

Medicine cats are not allowed to have mates or kits.

Naming Ceremony
Medicine Cat: I, (name), medicine cat of ___Clan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. (He/she) has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help (he/she) will serve (his/her) Clan for many moons.

Medicine Cat: ___paw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?

Apprentice: I do.

Medicine Cat: Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your true name as a medicine cat. ___paw, from this moment you will be known as (new name). StarClan honors your (virtues), and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of (Clan).

Apprentice Ceremony
Medicine cat: __paw, is it your wish to become a medicine cat and serve the Clan to become its next healer? Is it your wish to forsake the ability to procreate and divine the prophecies that StarClan sends us?
Apprentice: It is.
Medicine Cat: Then by the name of StarClan, I proclaim you to be my successor.

MEDICINE CAT APPRENTICES

Learning to become the next medicine cat seems like a daunting future, but it promises a reward all on its own.

As an apprentice, your primary task is to learn from your mentor and apply them to your teachings. At the first half-moon, you will be introduced to the other medicine cats. Once you gain your full name, you will be known as a full medicine cat.
